Introducing Coloured Pencils

It took my son a long time to get the hang of crayoning, but either because he is older now (21m) or just prefers it, he's pretty good with a pencil. So the other day I bought him his first pack of coloured pencils. He was absolutely delighted!

He made some good strong marks on the paper, and enjoyed trying all the different colours.

He was, however, quite obsessed with trying to hold as many as he could at once, and then trying to draw with them all!

He's still quite a way off being able to colour in properly, so for now we're happy with his doodles.

Coloured pencils have quite a low profile in the children's art world as they don't *do* very much other than basic scribbling and colouring. You can blend coloured pencil tones with baby oil but I think this effect is going to be a little too subtle for F right now. But if I discover any new crafts to do with them, I'll let you know!
